Alpena - Thunder Bay

Service Description

This weekend excursion is my favorite offerings. It offers a unique trip with opportunity to catch beautiful fish in multiple species. The itinerary for the weekend is either start early or quit early on Saturday, aiming for 10 hours on the water. The clear water of Thunder Bay makes it a challenging walleye fishery during the high skies, so getting out early or staying out late helps fill the cooler. The balance of Day #1 is spent looking for lakers. Thunder Bay and the vicinity offers great lake trout fishing, and surprisingly they don't see much pressure. Don't tell anyone, but the lake trout flavor has significantly improved since the days of alewives being their primary food source. Now that the goby has become a primary food source, their flavor has drastically improved. Fish 8# and under are now good for more than just the smoker. Day #2 - Clients choice - 5-6am start for walleye or 8 am start for lakers. 5 hour trip day two. This trip is not on the bookable trips, please contact us directly. The bite is best Late April to early June. With that said, there's a reason tournament anglers run 80 miles along the coast of Lake Huron in late July... This is where the big Lake Huron Walleye reside in the summer months. While you're up here, be sure to check out AW Jigs! Cancelation Policy

Cancellations with 14 days in advance of trip will receive refund of $250 deposit. Cancellations within 7 days of start of scheduled trip will result in refund of 1/2 the deposit. Cancellations within 24 hours of the trip will result in no refunds. Weather Policy: Small craft Advisory for any portion of the trip, automatic cancel, with reschedule or refund on deposit. Thunder and Lightning - we will not leave port until it has stopped for 15 minutes, we can extend the backend of the trip to ensure you get the full experience. High Winds w/o a small craft advisory are captains discretion. Light rain is not a justification for cancellation, we can put the Bimini top and curtains up and fish on!
