Description

Looks like the leaked specs for the next generation of LiveScope are here, and it is a massive game-changer. We are looking at a brand new LiveScope 2 Series featuring the LVS42HD (Ultra High-Definition) and the LVS44 (Long Range).
Here is the quick breakdown of what you need to know:

NO MORE BLACK BOX!
You read that right. The sonar-processing hardware is built directly into the transducer head. Installation just got a whole lot cleaner—just a power cord and a small network cable straight to your graph.

 POWER DRAW & BATTERY
LVS34: 21 Watts average 58W max
LVS42HD: 32W max
The Verdict: If your wiring and battery were already solid for the LVS34, you should be perfectly fine to swap this right in.

MASSIVE BEAM ANGLES (No Dead Space!)
Forward Mode: 165 degrees
Down & Perspective: 180 degrees
LVS 34 - 135 degrees
The Verdict: Virtually zero blind spots. Early pictures indicate that in just 17 feet of water, the forward view is looking back behind the boat over 15 feet!

SIZE & SHAPE COMPARISON
The new units are more square than the older models:
LVS34: 6.5" x 3" x 2"
LVS42HD: 5.25" x 5.25" x 2"
LVS44: 6.3" x 5.5" x 2"
Note: The LVS42HD + LVS44 feature a 24-notch locking pattern, up from 16 notches on the LVS34, meaning finer adjustment angles).

 THE NITTY-GRITTY: RANGE VS. SEPARATION
Max Distance:
LVS42HD: 125 feet (Optimized for crazy detail at casting distance)
LVS34: 200 feet
LVS44: 250 feet (The new long-range king)
Target Separation at 100 feet:
LVS34: 14 inches
LVS42HD & LVS44: 12.6 inches

Target Separation up close (at 30 feet):
LVS44: 5.7 inches
LVS42HD: 3.8 inches  (Incredible target separation for close-range)

COMPATIBILITY WIN!
Garmin didn't lock everyone out. It looks like it will integrate seamlessly across the ecosystem, working with:

Echomap UHD2
Ecomap Ultra & Ultra 2
GPSMap X3 Series
GPSMap 8000 & 9000 Series
